Every morning, as the sun rises on the horizon, a new opportunity presents itself.

David, a man of many roles in his lifetime such as shepherd, warrior, giant-slayer, King of Israel, and one who sought after God’s heart, expressed it this way when communicating with God:

“Each morning, let me experience your unfailing love, for I trust in you. Show me the path I should walk, for I entrust my life to you.” (Psalms 143:8, NLT)

David understood that each day held potential…

To encounter God’s unwavering love. His mercies are renewed every morning (Lamentations 3:23), and His love is everlasting (Psalm 118:2). However, there are times when we forget, and often, we need reminders. Just as winter naturally transitions into spring, we can not prevent the arrival of a brand new day filled with God’s mercies.

To place our trust in Him once again. God is consistently good, faithful, merciful, honest, loving, all-powerful, and the source of all existence. In fact, it is impossible for Him to be anything less. Regardless of the challenges we face, we can be assured of His trustworthiness. We can rely on His character and His loving heart.

To attentively observe, listen, and discern His guidance. Let us fix our gaze on the God who lovingly gazes upon us. Let us echo David’s words: “Show us the path we should walk…” May we recognize His promptings, heed His guidance, and listen for His voice.

To surrender our lives to Him completely. We can hold tightly to our own plans, dismiss His warnings, and strive for self-sufficiency, or we can wholeheartedly surrender ourselves to Him. When we depend solely on ourselves, we will always fall short. However, when we die to ourselves, we choose to live for Him.

No matter how dark the night may seem, the sun will rise once again. And when the morning light spills over the horizon, you are presented with a fresh opportunity to draw near to the One who loves you.
