In the boundless wisdom and creativity of the divine, magnificent wonders have been crafted: breathtaking sunsets, awe-inspiring mountains, turquoise oceans, and individuals of remarkable beauty.

Proverbs 31, a renowned chapter in the Bible, presents a portrayal of a woman characterized by her reverence for God, diligent work ethic, and generous spirit.

Notably, Proverbs 31 was authored by a man, King Lemuel, who shared the advice imparted to him by his mother during his reign.

It is worth noting that verses 10-31 form an acrostic poem in the original Hebrew text, with each verse beginning with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet, from aleph to tau.

As the poem reaches its peak, the author emphasizes that while charm and beauty may be captivating, it is a woman who reveres the Lord who truly deserves praise.

Deep down, we recognize the truth in this statement, don’t we?

Regardless of a woman’s charm or beauty, we acknowledge that physical attributes are transient. Charm and beauty will inevitably fade with time, as the natural aging process takes its course.

Interestingly, this passage places minimal emphasis on the woman’s physical appearance. Instead, it highlights her character, particularly her reverence for the Lord.

As mentioned in an earlier Proverb, “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10). This humble recognition implies that anything good, wise, pure, and true originates from Him.

If you happen to know a woman who possesses the qualities of loving and respecting God, honouring and caring for people, investing wisely, and living purposefully, it would be appropriate to take a moment to express gratitude to God for her presence in our lives.

Additionally, it may be beneficial to reflect on how we can emulate her positive attributes, as she strives to align herself more closely with God’s teachings.
