Daily writing prompt
What makes you laugh?

My ideal day? It’s a glorious, popcorn-fuelled dive into the world of comedy. Think: gut-busting stand-up specials, comedy movies that make my stomach ache, and, yes, a healthy dose of those hilariously chaotic YouTube Zoom trolls. Don’t judge me; it’s a form of… digital performance art, seriously!

There’s something about watching someone completely derail a serious online meeting with perfectly timed sound effects that just tickles my funny bone. It’s like a comedic car crash, but everyone walks away laughing (mostly).

But beyond the digital chaos, there’s a serious point: laughter is pure, unadulterated medication. It’s like a free, instant mood booster. Forget the kale smoothies; give me a well-delivered punchline any day.

You know that feeling when you’re laughing so hard you can’t breathe? That’s your brain throwing a party with happy chemicals. It’s like a mini-vacation for your mind, a temporary escape from the endless loop of “what ifs” and “should haves.”

And let’s not forget the power of nostalgia. Remembering those ridiculously funny moments from the past? The time you tried to ‘casually’ lean against a door that wasn’t there? Or that moment your autocorrect decided to replace ‘meeting’ with something… entirely inappropriate? Those memories are like little comedy goldmines, ready to be mined for instant joy.

Laughter is also a social superpower. Sharing a laugh with someone is like an instant connection, a secret handshake for the soul. It’s a reminder that we’re all in this wonderfully weird human experience together.

So, next time you’re feeling overwhelmed by the sheer absurdity of life, ditch the doom-scrolling and find something that makes you laugh. Watch a stand-up special, queue up a classic comedy movie, or even revisit those hilarious YouTube zoom trolls. And don’t forget to dig into your memory bank for those golden nuggets of past hilarity. Your brain (and your stomach) will thank you.
